HOW CAN DESIGN ENCOURAGE A MOMENT OF SELF-REFLECTION THROUGH THE USE OF MEDITATION?
Meditation is a technique to reach enlightenment by achieving self-awareness through concentration. The goal of the project is to encourage a moment of self-reflection by showing the change that meditation acts upon the Self. The portraits visualise the abstraction of meditation: where the colours of the pixels have been altered, it means that the subject is meditating. This is obtained by simple breathing techniques.
An EEG extrapolates the brain waves analysed for the meditational state and are fed into Processing and used to alter the pixels of the portraits previously taken. This is a slow process, line by line, second by second.
